I used epoxy on the first stock I repaired this way and it's still in service twenty eight years later. Next I drill two holes across the crack and insert wood dowels into those holes. The needle has to fit the hole very snug. What I do is drill a injection needle sized hole down through the crack, then fill a hypodermic needle with glue and inject it right into the heart of the crack until it squeezes out at the surface.
